American Balint Society - According to the American Balint Society, Balint groups are a supportive, collaborative means by which clinicians use intellect, emotion and self-reflection about the doctor`s work and the therapeutic potential of the doctor-patient relationship. Balint Groups are provided throughout a variety of medical disciplines in residency and other educational settings. The goal of the Balint Group experience is for participants to transform uncertainty, confusion, and difficulty in the doctor-patient relationship into understanding and meaning that nurtures a more therapeutic alliance between clinician and patient.
