About This Site
Reaching Out: American Academy on Communication in Healthcare
Effective use of the Internet is an
important communications goal for the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare. We launched this site in
order to meet people on their terms -- giving them the information they
want, when they want it. Currency of information is essential; sites
must be kept up to date in order to deliver value.
Needed: Timely EditingWe do two things to keep our site current. First, we rely on the association management services of Drake & Company
as a more efficient and effective way to manage our operations rather
than having our own fulltime headquarters staff. In providing guidance
and oversight for our activities, they also develop much of the content we need
to publish on the Web.
Response: A CMS WebsiteNext, we have
a modern website that uses a Content Management System (CMS) to store
text and visuals in a database. The CMS does not require special tools
or technical skills. We can edit the content or add new pages at any
time, in plain English. Our site was developed by WebSanity; it uses WebSanity's CMS editing features and is hosted on their servers at a national data center.
