In Baltimore we celebrate our native sons and daughters from Francis Scott Key and Harriet Tubman to Edger Alan Poe and Billie Holiday -- Gertrude Stein and Johns Hopkins to John Waters and Frank Zappa. We are the home of our national anthem, the Star Spangled Banner, and Baltimoreans take special pleasure in singing it out with gusto at Orioles games while looking over the Baltimore Harbor and enjoying the best crab cakes ever – anywhere!
We are proud to host the combined meeting of the International Conference on Communication in Healthcare – ICCH and the Health Literacy Annual Research Conference -- HARC. We have assembled an outstanding line-up of keynote speakers for our conference, bringing unique perspectives on our common commitment to quality communication and health equity in the delivery of effective and responsive care. We have also planned a fantastic schedule of oral and poster presentations, workshops and symposia, as well as “Meet the Professor/Leader,” “Pairing with Colleagues,” and Special Interest Group sessions.
We hope many of you will be able to join us at the National Aquarium Dinner on Tuesday night. This is a top rated fantastic facility: we will have access to the entire aquarium before dinner and then it’s our private party in the Marine Mammal Pavilion – us, the dolphins and the jelly fish! And, as Baltimore is home to a vibrant art, poetry and music scene, we are very pleased to have Mohamed Tall, Baltimore's current Youth Poet Laureate, perform for us.
We are extremely happy that you have joined us. There are deep connections between health communications, health literacy, and social justice. We can advance these agendas here together at ICCH/HARC 2017.
Enjoy our conference and Welcome to Baltimore!
