"The facilitator in training program provided by the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare is the single, most valuable educational program that I have ever participated in. It clearly has had the most important impact on my development as a clinician educator. The skills that I learned in this program- ranging from how to think about the learners' needs, how to give feedback and how to be more aware of my own emotional reaction to learners - have made a tremendous difference in my skill level. I would recommend this program to any clinician educator, particularly one who focuses on doctor-patient communication."

Imagine what you could do in your practice and teaching with your own personal coach!
The Facilitator in Training program (FIT) is designed to help you become an extraordinary clinician-educator and realize your full potential no matter what stage you are in your career. Our focus is teaching communication in healthcare between clinicians and patients, colleagues, other health professionals and between teachers and learners.
The FIT program is a unique opportunity to participate in an intensive faculty development program combining the attributes of mentoring, personal self-awareness, self-directed learning and skill development paced to fit your unique needs. Training can take place in your home institution, at AACH sponsored courses and other faculty development venues.
The primary goal of the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare Facilitator-in-Training Program is to train highly qualified facilitators for AACH regional, national, and one-day courses.
FIT has two assumptions:
- Learners can identify needs, goals, objectives and behaviors, as well as self-assess progress
